$7,500 Of Loose Change Found Underneath Coasters At Cedar Point - NewsNet5.com
Anyone who has been on Cedar Point's roller coasters knows they can produce a lot of loose change. But what happens to that money? Cedar Point employees collect and turn in the loose change found underneath the rides, on the midway or in the park's fountains to the loose change fund. The amusement park said that this year employees collected about $7,500 and will donate it to a soup kitchen in Sandusky. The park has donated more than $170,000 from the loose change fund to charity since 1988.

Cedar Fair drops earnings projection
Cedar Fair LP of Sandusky is lowering its 2006 earnings guidance due to falling attendance at its amusement parks. The company said it now expects to post full-year revenue of $815 million to $835 million and full-year adjusted earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation and amortization of $285 million to $305 million, according to a company statement. The statement did not list its previous earnings guidance, and a message left at Cedar Fair on Friday afternoon was not immediately returned.

Theme Park Magazine has named Cedar Point the country's favorite amusement park for the second year in a row. The honor was bestowed after readers voted for the Sandusky amusement park in the magazine's Readers' Choice Awards. Three of Cedar Point's roller coasters were also honored in the steel roller coaster category: The Millennium Force was rated No. 1 for the second straight year, Top Thrill Dragster came in at No. 2, and Magnum XL-200 came it at No. 4. The Mean Streak also made the top 10 in the wooden coaster category. Cedar Fair must decide on headquarters site
Come September, Cedar Fair LP will have a big decision: whether to operate from Sandusky, as it has since 1870, or move to Charlotte, N.C. In buying Paramount Parks Inc. last month for $1.24 billion, the Sandusky amusement park operator acquired a floor of leased space in a modern office park building in Charlotte that is Paramount's headquarters. When the deal was announced, Cedar Fair Chairman and Chief Executive Richard Kinzel, a Toledo native, was asked about the Charlotte site's fate. He was evasive.
