Cedar Point rated best amusement park for 10th straight year

Imagine how popular Cedar Point would be if it could stay open all year? As it is, it rates at the top with only a five-month season. And it has done so in each of the 10 years that the trade newspaper Amusement Today has held its Golden Ticket Awards competition.

In addition to winning best park, Cedar Point won best new ride for 2007 for its Maverick roller coaster. Among other winners, the Schlitterbahn Waterpark Resort in New Braunfels, Texas, near San Antonio, was named best water park. Legoland in Carlsbad, Calif., was chosen best children's park while Kings Island, near Cincinnati whas named the best kids' area within an amusement park.

The best wooden coaster was the Voyage at Holiday World & Splashin' Safari in Santa Claus, Ind., and the best steel coaster was Superman: Ride of Steel at Six Flags New England, in Agawam, Mass., near Springfield.

The awards are based on surveys from amusement park visitors across the country.
