Despite a decline in admissions to the amusement park from 2005, the board of directors of Historic Arnolds Park, Inc. (HAPI) announced another black-ink year of overall operations, the third in a row for the entertainment complex on West Lake Okoboji. Budget and finance committee chair Fred Dowden reported the net operating income for the 2006 season was $189,000, or $9,000 better than a year ago. Dowden praised the work of general manager Scott Pyle, who reduced total operating expenses by $100,000.

With the 2006 season opening in one month, the board of directors at the Arnolds Park Amusement Park met Wednesday and learned the financial picture is much brighter at the complex. The most recent audit reveals positive trends in financial management, including findings that operating revenues are up and expenses are down.
