It must have looked like a peculiar amusement ride. A fiberglass elephant — weighing between 400 and 500 pounds — lying on its side in a drained lake. Call it Dumbo, um, Drano. Actually, the elephant was a victim of the second act of vandalism in less than a month at the former LeSourdsville Lake/Americana amusement park, according to Monroe police.

An amusement park that opened in 1922 and entertained thousands of families over the years in southwest Ohio with swimming, rides and concerts is coming down. The owner of LeSourdsville Lake, which is near Monroe, has decided to dismantle it to expand his R-V dealership.

A retail company is planning on a $2 million expansion on the former site of LeSourdsville Lake.
