Will Joyland open again? The March wind blows by Joyland's shuttered arcades and closed-down rides. A year after Michael Moodenbaugh and Robert Barnard launched their quixotic revival of the amusement park, Joyland is only a little better off than it was. Today, it's unclear whether the park will open this spring, or even this year.
The two partners have control of the park but are caught in a legal and financial mess, exacerbated, they say, by a money-losing first season.
Moodenbaugh said they spent all of the nearly $1 million they brought with them -- and more. Several contractors have sued the pair, claiming they are owed thousands of dollars. Moodenbaugh said he owes roughly $150,000.
