Amusement park sale brings out sense of nostalgia - Carlisle SentinelMany of the several hundred people who braved the cold and wind Saturday to attend an auction at Williams Grove were hoping to buy a piece of the past.
Among the more popular items at the sale, by the Williams Grove Historic Steam Engine Association, were parts of old amusement rides, including more than 30 bumper cars.
Dillsburg resident Zeddie Neidig said nostalgia brought her to the auction.
"I used to work at Williams Grove," Neidig said. "It was my first job when I was 13."
She purchased one bumper car and a green "teacup" that she intends to use as "probably just yard art" although someone suggested she set the giant teacup on her deck and use it for seating.

Amusement Park won't open for seasonThe ducks will swim in silence this summer. The 1933 wooden roller coaster won't rattle riders down stomach-dropping inclines. The picnic pavilions will stand empty, mere echoes of gatherings long gone.
Williams Grove Amusement Park in Monroe Township, Cumberland County, won't be open for business this season.
