$70 million development planned for Alabama Adventure theme park - WTVMA 280-room hotel with an indoor water park is part of a 70 million dollar development in Bessemer pitched by the owners of the Alabama Adventure theme park.
Park officials made the presentation to the Bessemer City Council today. The council gave Mayor Ed May the authority to work out a development deal for the project, which would complement the theme park.
A 320-site campground is also planned near the site. Overall, 250 jobs are expected to be created from the project.
Park owners say the projects are occurring five to seven years earlier than planned. A spokesman for the park owners says they felt it was best to move forward now.
He says the new development should bring almost 1 million dollars in new revenue to the city.
