GE taps Zucker to run NBC Universal
General Electric Co. promoted Jeff Zucker to president and chief executive officer of NBC Universal Inc., charging him with reviving revenue growth at its television and movie studios and increasing sales from the Internet.

Zucker, 41, takes over immediately, GE said Tuesday. He replaces Bob Wright, who expanded the division in television, movies and theme parks over the past two decades. Wright, 63, will remain a GE vice chairman through this year and assist with the transition.

Universal Orlando Resort kicked off its "Do the Extraordinary"-themed, 2007 advertising campaign Monday with two commercials airing nationally on 25 cable TV networks. They're aimed at convincing viewers that Universal is much more than amusement park attractions.

Universal Studios to Revamp California Theme Park - Voice of America
Universal Studios in Universal City, California is already the world's largest movie studio lot. Now Universal's parent company wants to add a major residential and business complex to its 158-hectare studio and theme park. NBC Universal plans to add 24,000 square meters of space, including high-tech sound stages and a residential development to be called "Universal Village."

Universal Studios Hollywood tram tour gets mega-makeover
In recent years, riders familiar with the backlot Studio Tour at Universal Studios Hollywood may have thought they could take over for their tram guide, chatting away about the Little Europe set and feigning fear of the "Jaws" shark and collapsing bridge. But the tour has added some horsepower, getting its biggest revamp in more than a decade. The centerpiece is a fiery mechanized stunt sequence from "The Fast and the Furious: Tokyo Drift." Its one of a half-dozen new or improved elements in the tram tour that debuted this summer. "I don't think there's ever been that many elements that were done at once," Thierre Coup, the Orlando, Fla.-based creative director of Universal Creative, said while showing off the "Fast & Furious: Extreme Close-Up" project.

Universal raises price to $67
On the heels of Walt Disney World, Universal Orlando increased its basic, one-day, one-park adult ticket price to $67, starting today. Universal on Friday announced a host of ticket price changes, keeping most of its prices in line with Disney's, which went up Sunday. Previously, Universal's one-day ticket cost $63. Universal runs two theme parks, Universal Studios and Islands of Adventure.

Universal Orlando is getting rid of its Express Pass system that allows guests to skip a line at a designated time in favor of a system letting them skip any of a group of lines at any time.
