Pirates invaded LEGOLAND® California for the opening of Captain Cranky's Challenge earlier this summer. Swashbucklers of all ages dare to walk the plank of Pirate Shores, the theme park's seventh area of attractions, where brand new thrills await them.

Captain Cranky's Challenge, the newest addition to Pirate Shores, defies guests to test their sea worthiness as they sway back and forth on a pirate ship that sits on a "U-shaped" track and rotates in two directions. A life-sized LEGO® model of Captain Cranky greets guests as they enter the ride which holds 24 passengers. After two minutes of fun, guests exiting the ride find another pirate model, this one a little green in the face from a dizzying ride on the open sea.

Captain Cranky's Challenge is the fifth attraction to be added to Pirate Shores and joins the signature attraction Splash Battle, water-play areas Soak-N-Sail and Swabbies Deck, and a mini-flume log ride, Treasure Falls. Additional seating, more shade and locker facilities make Pirate Shores even more family friendly this summer.

Throughout Pirate Shores, more than 150 detailed LEGO® models abound including a lively pirate band providing festive sea shanties, a group of renegade mice raiding provisions and a spectacular sinking galleon. Guests can test their mettle at games that challenge their pirating skills and win a trove of treasure to take home from the 128 acre family theme park.

Fourteen new attractions have been added to LEGOLAND California in the last three years including the new Miniland Las Vegas. With the opening of Miniland Las Vegas in March, 2007, and Captain Cranky's Challenge in May of 2007, LEGOLAND is continuing to position itself as the preferred attraction choice for families with children ages 2 to 12.
