The chairs are expected to be back open on Tuesday, that's the word from a North Carolina amusement park after a ride in a chair lift turned into two very scary hours for people Monday night.

Rescue workers say lightning disabled the chair lift at Ghost Town In The Sky in Maggie Valley, that's in Haywood County.

On Tuesday, state inspectors plan to take a closer look at the ride. Rescue crews had to be called in to get people off the ride. Firefighters used special rescue equipment to physically hoist about a dozen riders off the lift before it started working again.

Park officials say the lift was just replaced last year and that their safety measures worked perfectly in this case.

Ghost Town In The Sky just re-opened in May of this year.
