SANTA CLAUS, Ind. -- A woman who collapsed and fell into a shallow pool at the Holiday World Holiday World and Splashin' Safari theme park died of natural causes, a coroner said.

Lifeguards pulled the 29-year-old Fort Wayne woman from the water about 11 a.m. Wednesday, shortly after the park opened, Indiana State Police said. Lifeguards and paramedics attempted to revive her, but she was pronounced dead after being taken to Jasper Memorial Hospital.

She died of congestive heart failure, said Dubois County Coroner Tony Matthews. The woman's name was being withheld until relatives are notified, he said.

The woman was standing on the edge of The Wave pool, where the water is only inches deep, when she collapsed, said park spokeswoman Paula Werne.

Staff members assisted the woman's boyfriend, who was in a different area of the park when she collapsed, Werne said.

"We had two of our directors who spent the day with him and drove him back to Fort Wayne," she said.

Holiday World is in Santa Claus, about 35 miles east of Evansville.
