NASHVILLE, Tenn. -- Due to ongoing questions about the status of KY Kingdom Accident Victim Kaitlyn's parents, Randy and Monique, would like to offer the following update:

Kaitlyn remains at Vanderbilt University Medical Center. She remains in stable condition.

Kaitlyn's doctors were able to reattach one of her feet. At this time as Kaitlyn continues her recovery the likelihood for a positive outcome to the surgery remains encouraging.

"We have successfully reattached Katie's right lower extremity. We were not able to reattach the left lower extremity due to the severity of the injury. Things are progressing as expected over this first ten days," said Dr. Douglas Weikert, assistant professor of Orthopaedics and Rehabilitation.

The Lasitter family would like to express their gratitude for all of the cards, letters and other forms of support they are receiving from the Louisville community, and from across the country.

Kaitlyn's parents would like to again take this opportunity to reiterate that there has been no contact with the family by any employee of KY Kingdom Theme Park at this time.

The Lasitter family would like to express their appreciation to the medical team at Vanderbilt, including the staff of the Vanderbilt Trauma Unit, Vanderbilt Children's Hospital and the following surgeons: Dr. Douglas Weikert, Dr. Marc Tressler and Dr. William Obremsky.

"We would like to thank the entire team of doctors, nurses and other staff who have helped care for Katie and made her feel like family and not a patient," said Monique Lasitter. "We would not want her to be at any other hospital during this difficult time."

The Lasitter's have established a trust fund for Katie at Class Act Federal Credit Union, located at 3620 Fern Valley Road. The trust fund is in the name of Kaitlyn Lasitter.

"We look forward to Kaitlyn's recovery and getting back to some sort of normalcy in our lives in Louisville," said Randy Lasitter. "Without the support of our close friends this could have been a much more difficult situation to handle."

"We have chosen WLKY TV to disseminate this information about Katie because of the respectful way they have handled this situation," said Randy Lasitter.

The Lasitter family understands the public's interest in Katie's outcome, but also ask at this time that members of the news media continue to respect the family's privacy.
