West Mifflin, PA – Kennywood, America’s favorite traditional amusement park, invites guests to join in the fun at Celebrate America, beginning Sunday, July 1 and continuing through Friday, July 6. The festival gives Kennywood a platform to show its best colors – red, white, & blue – in a weeklong salute to our great country and its people!

Celebrate America brings many extras to Kennywood but, as Kennywood General Manager Jerome Gibas shares, “It will be hard to top this year’s featured entertainment – since it is presented not on, but above, the midway! Even the show’s name The Motorcycle High Wire Aerial Raceway Spectacular, speaks to its thrill.” Aerial stunt team, Noe and Vivian Espana, live up to their name – The Nerveless Nocks – by performing midair stunts that incorporate the high wire, a powerful motorcycle and the aerial trapeze all in one show.

Special entertainment, including mimes, jugglers, stilt walkers, unicyclists, and even Uncle Sam perform around the park each day. From the Gazebo, world-class ragtime piano player Don Leventhal’s music echoes through the trees behind the Kandy Kaleidoscope. Magicians feature old-fashioned slight of hand tricks, amazing even the most tech savvy guest. The Kennywood Band returns to roam the park playing patriotic and other longtime musical favorites.

Additional fun surrounds the park’s Lagoon. There’s face painting, a jewelry maker, wooden sign carver, renowned carousel horse carver George Nowak, chain saw carver Jeff Pinney, and artist Linda Barnicott. Guests can catch a cool breeze watching champion ice carver Rich Bubin. The Pittsburgh Children’s Museum provides their signature arts and crafts for kids, and for the “bigger kids”, antique and classic cars are scattered through the park.

Kenny Kangaroo is Grand Marshall for the Celebrate America parade each evening at 6pm, and Kennywood Team Members take a break from their regular routine to become a circus performers in the parade. They include a ringmaster, muscle men, keystone kops, clowns, and flappers.

Another Celebrate America tradition brings each day to a close, as Zambelli International presents fireworks at 9:30pm (weather permitting).

Kennywood is located just 8 miles from Pittsburgh, PA. Discount coupons are available at participating Giant Eagle locations. For more information call 412.461.0500 or visit www.kennywood.com.
