Nashville, TN - Dolly Parton is achieving personal and professional dreams at the moment.

The iconic country singer is living out her childhood dream to be a Girl Scout and being honored for her lifetime dedication to song writing.

Dolly, 61, will be awarded a lifetime membership pin to the Girl Scouts during a special presentation at her theme park, Dollywood, on June 15. Over 1,000 young Girl Scout's are due to take part in the ceremony.

An excited Dolly said, "While I was never a Girl Scout myself when I was a kid, I always wanted to be. This great honor lets me live out a dream and to be part of an organization that stands for many of the same values I do and Dollywood does."

Meanwhile, the singer has also been spending time with grownups who appreciate her contribution to music. The star received the Johnny Mercer award from the Songwriters Hall of Fame.

Despite having one of the most loved voices in music, Dolly said she would stop everything before she stopped writing. She told AP, "I would always give up everything before I give up the writing, because it's really my way of expressing myself and the song just took me everywhere I've been so far. To be honored for it and recognized for it is a great, great compliment."

The star continued, "Song writing is my favorite thing to do. It is my private time with God. That's when I feel closest to God even when the songs I'm writing are just God-awful."
