Among “Star Wars” fans, the most vivid depiction of the icy planet of Hoth, the lush jungles of Kashyyyk and the underwater Gungan world on Naboo exist on celluloid.

These fictional fixtures of the “Star Wars” galaxy just became more real with Star Tours: The Adventures Continue, a theme park attraction based on the six “Star Wars” films, which opened late last month at Walt Disney World Resort in Florida and on Friday at Disneyland Resort in California.

Created by Walt Disney Imagineering, Lucasfilm and Industrial Light & Magic (the visual effects division of Lucasfilm), the virtual journey features Dolby 3-D technology. Guests on the spaceship Starspeeder, a flight simulator, view the main action on a screen, and experience additional effects throughout the cabin.

Gary Buchanan, a spokesman for Disney Parks, said the attraction “with new worlds, new characters and new destinations, is like a story-telling slot machine.” He said it randomly offers “more than 50 different story combinations.”
