Dollywood, Dolly Parton’s theme park in Pigeon Forge, Tennessee is officially open for the 2011 season.  Dollywood was voted the best theme park for 2010 and the new season could possibly take that prize again.

Thousands of visitors headed to the park yesterday to watch the Festival of Nations Parade, led by the Sevier County High School Marching Band.  Of course they played Dolly’s “9 to 5” and they really got the crowd into it!   Dolly Parton was at the tail end of the parade riding in a vintage car.  Dolly makes the trip to Sevier County for opening weekend every year.  She also makes an unannounced visit sometime during the season.  You never know when you might run into her!

This is Dollywood’s 26th season and they have a new ride called the Barnstormer that will provide thrills to all who dare ride it.  Dollywood’s spokesman, Pete Owens, says that "We think as long as the weather is good, and gas prices stay reasonable, we'll have an excellent season,", as reported by WBIR.

There is something for everyone at Dollywood, so if your plans include a trip to Tennessee, be sure to head to Pigeon Forge and get your thrills and spills at Dolly’s place!  The 2011 season is just starting, you have lots of time to get there and start enjoying!
