Allen Beavers Jr., 81, of West Hartford will be the first official rider on the new Wooden Warrior roller coaster at Quassy Amusement Park in Middlebury when the park opens for its 103rd season on April 23. Beavers was surprised to learn of the honor after the Connecticut Campground Owners Association placed a high bid in his name during an auction for the first ride on the coaster.
