Workers at Six Flags St. Louis on Thursday "topped off" the SkyScreamer, a new ride set to open later this spring. Impending bad weather prompted the amusement park to speed up the ride's crowning event.

At 236 feet above the ground, the swing ride will be the tallest attraction in the park. It will be located near the Screamin' Eagle rollercoaster.

At full swing, riders will soar in a 98-foot circle at speeds of more than 43 mph. The ride will offer a bird's eye view for miles by day and glow as its lighted arms whirl high above the park by night.
