Morey’s Piers’ Ghost Ship won the title of About.com’s Reader’s Choice Award for Best New Theme Park Attraction of 2010.

The Ghost Ship, a theatrical horror walk through attraction that involves a combination of animatronics, special effects and live actors, went up against four major theme parks and their newest rides.

SkyJump at the Stratosphere Tower in Las Vegas came in second and Harry Potter and the Forbidden Journey at Islands of Adventure in Orlando, Fla. took third place.

The Rapids at Cedar Point in Sandusky, Ohio received fourth place and King Kong 360 3-D at Universal Studios Hollywood finished fifth.

“It’s interesting to see an attraction that relies heavily on a theatrical concept rise over all these purely mechanical, though truly impressive, rides,” said Jack Morey, executive vice president of Morey’s Piers. “It reinforces the fact that the classic culture of the Wildwoods and America’s boardwalk is very much alive.”

“As a family owned park, it’s humbling to see that magnitude of support coming from our fans. Thank you to everyone who voted,” said Will Morey, president of the organization.
