ElecTRONica dates extended offering nighttime TRON fun through Labor Day at Disney California Adventure

With Blu-ray and DVD releases of Tron: Legacy and the original Tron due out in the coming months and an animated series and rumored third film in the works, Disney has announced the extension of the popular ElecTRONica nighttime parties at Disney California Adventure through Labor Day.

Intitially, ElecTRONica was slated to take over the Hollywood Pictures Backlot section of the park on select nights through December 2010. Now in February, it’s still running strong and will continue to do so on a regular basis through the end of Summer 2011.

That means crowds coming to Disney California Adventure this summer will not only get to ride The Little Mermaid: Ariel’s Undersea Adventure dark ride when it opens, but will also be able to take in the Tron-inspired festivities. Likewise, fans attending the second Disney D23 Expo in August will also have a chance to step onto the Grid, play video games at Flynn’s Arcade, and marvel at the awesome sight that is Laserman.

It’s unknown what Disney will do with the 3D “sneak preview” of Tron: Legacy that plays during ElecTRONica, perhaps transforming it into a preview for the animated series or rumored next film (just speculation).
