A spokesman for the owner of the Edaville railroad property said several serious potential buyers have expressed an interest in buying the Carver site and continuing to operate an amusement park there.

Jon Delli Priscoli, owner of the 231-acre property, said in November that he would close the park and sell the park’s assets, and the property would be subdivided, if he couldn’t find a buyer that would commit to running the park by early 2011. At the time, Delli Priscoli said he was seeking $10 million for the site.

Doug Pizzi, a spokesman for Delli Priscoli, said the landowner has several qualified buyers who want to keep Edaville running as a theme park.

“There’s some serious cause for optimism on that front,” said Pizzi, who said a decision on Edaville’s future will likely be made within the next few weeks.

The railroad initially opened in 1947 under the ownership of cranberry farmer Ellis D. Atwood (the park was named after Atwood’s initials). The railroad, initially 5.5 miles in length, was used to harvest cranberries and take tourists through the bogs.

Delli Priscolli, whose development office is in Marlboro, became an investor in the property in 1998 and its sole owner in 2002. He has rehabbed the property and its buildings since becoming the owner.
