The bricks at Legoland Florida aren't just the plastic variety any more.

Construction is in full swing at the Winter Haven theme park with an October opening on the horizon.

With all that activity it's no wonder eager fans are already buying tickets. In fact, Legoland Florida officials say demand is so high they've extended their pre-opening sale promotion through April 30.

"There's a lot of interest here and a lot of excitement," said Bob Gernert, executive director of Winter Haven's Chamber of Commerce. And he should know. He holds an historic distinction with Legoland Florida.

"Well, interestingly enough I bought the first ticket to the park," Gernert explained.

When park officials launched the pre-opening sale last fall Gernert wasted no time buying his annual pass, and he wasn't alone.

Legoland Florida officials won't talk specific ticket sales numbers, but director of sales and marketing Kim Isemann said thousands of people have already invested in tickets.

"For people to take that leap of faith and really get behind us and show Legoland how excited they are about us being here and opening in a year and going ahead and saying here we're going to give you our money up front, I mean it's a great sign for us," Isemann said.

Here's a breakdown of the preview prices.

Basic annual passes which include 15 months of park accessibility are $99. Upgraded annual passes that include the extended park accessibility and parking are $129 and $159.

A single day ticket is on sale for $55 for children and $65 for adults.

There are even $2,500 lifetime passes on sale in limited numbers.

"If you buy a lifetime pass to our park that gets you into the other Legolands, so this is an ultimate pass for a Legoland fanatic," Isemann said.

Pre-opening tickets are only on sale through the theme park's website atwww.legoland.com. Officials say the prices will change once the gates officially open.

The theme park is being built on the site of the Cypress Gardens Adventure Park.
