September 04, 2006 The leader of Wichita's Immanuel Baptist Church who shocked his congregation by stepping down last month was back giving sermons this morning.
The Reverend Terry Fox has started a new church to be housed in the Wild West World theme park in Park City.
Fox says he and Immanuel Baptist's leaders agreed he should resign from his position as senior pastor last month. The outspoken conservative Christian frequently pushed for a state ban on same-sex marriage and anti-abortion causes from the pulpit.
His former church is said to be looking for a new pastor with a different leadership style.
Fox says his new church, called Summit Church, will be affiliated with the Southern Baptist Convention and will hold services in the Johnny Western Theatre at the theme park. It's only about 10 miles from Immanuel.
