Officials at Carowinds amusement park hope dropping the price of season passes will lure more people into the park this summer.

Between now and May 18, a season pass can be purchased for $69.95, which is $20 less than the standard rate. Season passes also include extra incentives like free parking and free admission to Scarowinds, the park's Halloween exhibit.

Officials said a weaker economy usually drives people to local attractions, and an expansion of the Carowinds water park is also expected to draw more people.
