Six Flags Over Texas has reduced the price of admission for children this season as its visitors face a sluggish economy and high gas prices.

The amusement park’s new admission price for kids 48 inches and shorter is $29.99, a $5 decrease from $34.99 from last year, said Sharon Parker, a Six Flags spokeswoman.

The adult daily pass remains the same as last year at $46.99. But reduced prices are available if tickets are purchased at the park’s Web site or combined with Coke can discount offers.

“We understand that with the economy the way it is, families can have a great alternative while also being able to save a few dollars,” Ms. Parker said.

Other Arlington Six Flags prices for food and parking -- $15 general parking, $20 preferred parking and $30 valet parking --  remain the same as last year, she said.

The park realizes that high gas prices will affect amusement park thrill seekers coming from far away.

“People come from all over,” driving from Austin, Oklahoma, Arkansas and Louisiana, she said.
