Bells Amusement Park Icon Coming Down - KOTV
People from across the U.S. came to Tulsa to ride it, now it is being dismantled. Crews at Bell's Amusement Park have begun removing track from the north end of the Zingo. Zingo was Bell's most famous ride. Robby Bell says his dad built it in 1968 for about $240,000. Robby says the Zingo would cost at least $3 million to duplicate it today, so it's coming down piece by piece.

Bell's lost its lease at the Tulsa County Fairgrounds and it must have all of the rides moved by June 15th.

The people at Bell's have been dismantling rides on the park's midway since the middle of January. Most of the smaller rides have been put into storage at a Tulsa warehouse, and the bigger ones are being temporarily relocated to the manufacturer or put into storage.

Bell’s has been at the Tulsa County Fairgrounds for 55 years. The parks owners have not announced where they plan to rebuild the park, but have said they are certain it will reopen somewhere. Nearly all of Tulsa's surrounding suburbs, Sand Springs, Owasso and Jenks, have expressed an interest in being the next home for the amusement park.

Bell's Amusement Park Gets More Time - KOTV
A Tulsa landmark that is moving gets a last minute reprieve, but not for long. Thursday was the deadline for Bell’s Amusement Park to be off the Tulsa County Fairgrounds property, but part of the park is still there. News On 6’s Heather Lewin reports under the agreement with the Tulsa County Public Facilities Trust Authority, anything left on the lot past the deadline, the Bell family has to forfeit and it becomes the property of the authority. But Robby Bell was granted an extension on that deadline Thursday afternoon.

Bell's lost its lease when Tulsa County decided the park was not financially viable. Robby Bell says his family and crew have been working 100-hour weeks. While they have made a lot of progress dismantling the park, he says making Thursday's deadline would have been impossible. "There is no way, the US Army couldn't tear this amusement park down, in a fashion to have it reassembled at some point, in 120 days."

Bell asked for an extension to September 1, but was given much less by the Tulsa County Public Facilities Trust Authority. He now will have until June 15 to finish the job.

Robby Bell says it will cost about half a million dollars to tear the park down. The family will lose anything left behind.
