Shakopee Valley News Original Article »September 07, 2007 Valleyfair officials said today that media reports regarding a fire Wednesday morning at the Shakopee amusement park were erroneous and that they expect the Xtreme Swing ride to be open Saturday.
Rachel Onken, marketing manager at Valleyfair, said the park experienced a small electrical fire at about 10:15 a.m. at a telephone junction box located near the Xtreme Swing ride, which park maintenance staff quickly put out. The Shakopee Fire Department had been called as a precaution, but the fire was out when firefighters arrived, Onken said. The ride has been tested and is expected to be open Saturday. Media reports had indicated that the ride equipment was damaged and the ride would not reopen this season, which is not the case, said Onken. The Shakopee amusement park is open on weekends during the month of September. |
